Day 1: When I Worship, I Remember Who I Am
Worship is one of the most powerful weapons there is. Something happens when you worship the holiness of God: reverence is restored, and God is seen rightly. And when God is lifted to His rightful place, whatever you are facing is re-sized because no situation has more power than God Almighty.
When you bow and worship, acknowledge Him, something happens. Things change. You change. The battle is no longer yours; you place it in His hands, and He fights for you. You place it at His feet, and in return, He sees about you. The burden lifts. Peace enters.
Worship is also a doorway. “Lift up your heads, O ye gates” is an invitation to open the inward doors your attention, focus, emotions, and the private places you’ve been trying to manage alone. Worship allows us to see who He is in glory, and when we see God as He is, we gain space to see ourselves as He is.
We are children of God. We are partakers of His divine nature. That must be more than a concept, it is our reality. And the more this reality permeates us, the more we walk according to who we are in Christ.
Scripture Reading
The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
King James Version (KJV)
Identity Anchor
Because He is the King of glory, my life is not governed by fear, pressure, or circumstance. I belong to the Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Reflection Prompts
What “gates” have been lowered in me lately—focus, faith, peace, expectancy, discipline, purity, joy?
What burden have I been carrying as if the battle is mine to win?
Are you truly reflecting on the meaning and words of the song when we worship? Or are we just singing by memory, not connecting our hearts to what’s being said about our Father?
Prayer
Father, You are the King of glory the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Today I lift up the gates of my heart, my mind, and my attention. I choose reverence over reaction. I place every weight, every concern, and every fight at Your feet, because the battle is no longer mine.
Let peace enter where pressure has been. Let faith rise where fear has been speaking. Let my worship restore my sight until I see You as You are—and then I see myself as You have made me. Teach me to live like Your child, not just to say it. Let this reality permeate my being, and let my life reflect who I am in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
